Consumer Pulse Spotlight: Property Investors
The Consumer Pulse Spotlight: Property Investors report, sponsored by Bluestone Home Loans, uncovers the current landscape of property investors and Australians dabbling in the market to understand their behaviour and plans, challenges they face, and opportunities for brokers to reach this segment of the population.

Challenge
Property investors are an integral segment in the lending market of Australia. A significant portion of them are ready and planning to invest in property in the next 12 months. However, certain factors hinder them from accessing investment lending, particularly access to finance, knowledge gaps, and the cost of entry.
This report, sponsored by Bluestone Home Loans, uncovers the current landscape of property investors and Australians dabbling in the market to understand their behaviour and plans, challenges they face, and opportunities for brokers to reach this segment of the population.
Solution
Responses were collected from 1,574 property investors in March 2026, and 18,050 Australians over the course of a year to discover how both samples approach property investment and wealth management. Findings represent investor sentiment prior to the Federal Government's May 2026 Budget announcement on capital gains tax. While results are considered accurate as at the time of research, the evolving policy landscape may affect future investor behaviour.
Findings
- 32% of property investors plan to invest in property in the next 12 months, more than 3x the general population.
- 38% have felt that a traditional bank made it too difficult to access investment lending, with over 2 in 5 property investors being open to alternative lenders.
- Nearly 3 in 5 property investors use at least one professional adviser, with accountants (46%) being the most common.
