The State of Content Marketing 2026

The State of Content Marketing in 2026, produced by Agile Market Intelligence in partnership with Cotality, reveals how Australian and New Zealand mortgage brokers use content to engage clients and build brand awareness.

Challenge (Abstract)

Client communication is important for Australian and New Zealand mortgage brokers in retaining client relationships. Content marketing is one method brokers utilise to maintain this, whether it be to disseminate local property insights, educational content, market updates, among other types of information. By uncovering how often brokers communicate, what content they share, and through what platforms, this report uncovers their habits and therefore opportunities to maximise content marketing.

The State of Content Marketing in 2026 special report, produced by Agile Market Intelligence in partnership with Cotality, uncovers how brokers communicate with clients in Australian and New Zealand through content marketing.

Solution (Methodology)

A survey was conducted for 414 Australian and 79 New Zealand mortgage brokers and advisers. Data were collected via the Broker Pulse Residential Lending Omnibus survey (2026), in partnership with Cotality.

Findings (Results)

  • The majority of mortgage brokers in Australia (75%) and New Zealand (42%) prefer sharing market updates and how changes in the economy can impact the client’s personal circumstances.
  • Only 19% of Australian brokers communicate with their clients on a regular basis, while only 29% do so among Australian mortgage advisers.
  • Increased brand awareness is the most common business outcome from using content marketing strategies for 65% of Australian brokers and 37% of Australian advisers.
