Challenge (Abstract)
For Australian accounting firms, awareness of one’s strengths and weaknesses in growth and marketing is crucial for maintaining an edge against competitors. This creates the need for an official benchmark that allows accounting firms to compare themselves against other companies and identify areas for improvement, especially in the areas of client growth and technology.
The Growth and Marketing Maturity Benchmarking Report 2025, produced by Agile Market Intelligence in partnership with Intuit QuickBooks, aims to uncover the hurdles that accounting firms face, as well as the practices of high-growth firms.
Solution (Methodology)
460 accounting professionals were surveyed between 2nd September and 13th October 2025. From this sample, 92% of respondents were accounting firms, while 8% were bookkeepers. To find a baseline, the key areas examined include strategic planning, positioning, referral systems, digital marketing, technology adoption, and time spent with clients.
Findings (Results)
- High-growth firms show highest adoption and diversity for marketing channels.
- 71% of high-growth firms actively ask for referrals.
